The deception of weed!

The deception of weed, cannabis, marijuana or pot, or whatever you choose to call it. This invasive plant in today’s society has many pros and cons, although there is a proper use for this plant, many have been duped into thinking that it’s ok to fill the lungs with the smoke from this plant, or to ingest it in the form of edibles. Whichever way you choose the euphoria is somewhat the same. As I said there is a proper way to use this remarkable plant! In times past it has been used for a wide range of things, it was used to make rope. The oldest known written record of cannabis use comes from the Chinese in 2727 B.C. . The ancient Greeks and Romans were also familiar with cannabis, but in the Middle East its use spread throughout the Islamic empire to North Africa. In 1545 cannabis spread to the western world. The Spaniards imported it to Chile for its use as fiber. In North America cannabis, in the form of hemp, was grown on many plantations for use in rope, clothing and paper. Most users smoke marijuana in hand-rolled cigarettes called joints or blunts. Other popular methods of smoking marijuana include using bowls, pipes, and bongs. The topic of legalizing marijuana for medical use is a controversial issue since the therapeutic properties of marijuana are presently at question when claiming medicinal purpose. The impairment of cognitive abilities when under the influence of cannabis or THC and the short term effects of marijuana use can include problems with memory and learning, distorted perception, coordination and increased heart rates. Many are divided on these issues, doctors and scientists alike have a wide range of opinions, but all are influenced by the evil that is the deceiver. Yes, I am just one of many voices that understand that the world at large dances to a different beat. It is my belief that many in this world are influenced by either of the two opposing forces. God through the Blood and body of Jesus Christ as the supreme truth and ultimate power in the universe. While the devil, formally named Lucifer, he as a fallen angel bent on usurping the authority of God’s divine power, using the power of deception to confuse and destroy men’s integrity. This enemy uses every trick at his disposal in is his attempt to bring us to our knees, not humbly before God but to our knees in defeat! So for the sake of this blog, I am speaking of marijuana as one of the tools that he uses to deceive and abuse who we were truly meant to be. Why do you think God tells us to guard our heart and mind by putting on the whole armor of God so we can resist the devils powerful influence. The Scriptures tell us in Romans 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” God also says in John 15:18-19 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” There are many other scriptures that will speak to the divine will and purpose of God, but we must allow our minds to be open to his will. Like I said, marijuana is just one tool that the devil uses, but in this world we live he has a wide range of thing that he can use at his disposal that he will use against us, so it is important that we as believers keep close to God‘s heart and allow him to direct our path. We without God’s word and provision and the power of the Holy Spirit will find ourselves on some dark and ever twisted roads. In this case we follow our own way or give into deceptive teaching. But God is clear in the way we should go. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 There’s a good reason why God spends a great deal on time on warnings and edification, as well as the description of His love, because it is for those who read and spend time in the word of God so that we can and will be armed with ammunition and power to stand in all our adversities. In 1 Timothy 4:1-2 gives us insight into one of these warnings. “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.” So it’s time like never before to stand and be vigilant, because a storm is coming!
